A: Hi "J", This isn't an easy or brief issue to discuss. An e-mail can at best point in a direction for you to explore. So, here's what I think.
Magick is a tricky thing. The hardest part is learning when not to use it. We all make mistakes & that's how we learn. Yes, we have power within us. But the power needed in Witchcraft, let alone any kind of magick, requires wisdom. Wisdom comes from experience, so you have to actually practice the art to get good at it & develop wisdom.
So, in the cases you listed in your message, start with prayer. Accept that you don't know what to do & ask your higher power for inspiration. Then, just send all people involved as many magickal/energetic blessings that you can generate. Focus on blessing & protecting the people in need first. That's nowhere near as tricky as justice magick.
Then let's really look at you following inspiration. Learn all you can in the Craft & in magick that interests you. Every Witch needs training & most of the best were self trained for part of their path. Study, find a daily spiritual practice that supports you & builds your power inside. That will help you hear the voice of guidance within you. Intuition will tell you whether to get involved yet or at all.
So, start with blessings, get yourself together energetically & follow your gut.
I REALLY hope that helps.
